Last week was an exciting time for us.
I had the pleasure of joining the DET NSW ESSA team for the Australian Excellence in eGovernment Awards Dinner where the ESSA 2010 project was a finalist.
Built on Windows Azure and using the latest web technologies we knew we had created a worthy finalist, but the night, got even better when the team went one better and was announced the winner of the Aplications Development award for 2011 !
Here's what the A/Director-General of the NSW Department of Education and Communities, Pam Christie had to say about the project and the recognition of the award.
“The online practical component of ESSA was the first time a standardised statewide practical test was undertaken online, and to have this recognised with a national Award is a fantastic achievement.
Online testing has many educational benefits.
As well as being more engaging for students, it also provides a more authentic assessment of the learning currently taking place in NSW classrooms, and tests a wider range of learning outcomes than traditional testing methods.
This Award is evidence of our commitment to providing our students with access to a world class education system.”
I am very proud of our team at Janison who quietly (well most of the time) helped make all this happen and I am very proud of the DET NSW ESSA team too. Their strength of commitment and belief that together we could build something special has now been truly recognised.
